Undercover Secrets, Untold Lies

Undercover Secrets, Untold Lies - Jasmine Austin Moore The best thing about the book is the book description. After that, everything just goes downhill. There is nothing obviously wrong with the book. Its just that the way the murder investigation unfolded was so methodical and by-the-book and therefore so utterly tedious, that it bored me to sleep. The lady cops were never in any real danger (till the shootout at the end). Neither did the author make me care for the victims.

The romance didn't fare any better. No sparks. No angst. Even the sex was methodical.

I guess I wouldn't be so harsh if this book were cheaper, or there were no better alternatives. But this is my favorite genre. There are just so much better cops + murders + romance stories around--such as those by C.L. Hart, Ronica Black, Erica Abott, RE Bradshaw and anything by Gerri Hill.
